Registration times

Notice: All University students enrolled online or in-person must complete the Student COVID-19 Immunization Vaccination form. Students who do not complete the Vaccination form will be out of compliance with the University's vaccination requirement and unable to register for fall 2022 classes. To remove the registration hold, students must complete the Vaccination form as soon as possible. For more information, see the Get the Vax 2.0 website.

Registration appointments are organized by stage, distributed across several business days for spring and fall registration.

Students are randomly assigned to a stage based on the total number of cumulative credits. For the purposes of assigning registration times, cumulative credit total includes both completed and in-progress credits. Audit courses are not counted in the cumulative credits, nor are they counted as credits in progress.

Appointments are not adjusted based upon academic credit awarded after appointments have been assigned.

When can I register?

View your specific registration date and time by clicking on the "Registration" tab in MyU: Academics. Use the Registration Shopping Cart to register for classes anytime after your appointed time. Registration is unavailable during weekly maintenance on Sundays, 3:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Online Course Registration Priority

Online degree-seeking students who are officially admitted to an approved online degree program are given priority for registration in all online courses offered during the fall and spring semesters (designated by class sections E90, E91, etc.) This will insure that “place-bound” students have the first opportunity to enroll in online classes. There is, however, no priority registration for summer session.

  • Online Students (in an approved online major): may register at or after their registration queue time (no permission number required unless class is full).
  • On-campus degree-seeking students: may register at or after their registration queue time but approval and permission number is required from the department offering the course.
  • Non-degree/PSEO students: See schedule below (on a space available basis).
  • Multi-institutional students may seek out a permission number from the corresponding department as soon as open enrollment begins. Because seat availability varies for each department, program, and course, it is up to the discretion of the department when permission numbers are given.

Documented Disablity Registration Priority

Priority registration allows a student with a documented disability to register at the beginning of the registration queue. Requests for priority registration may be made by the student or the student's academic adviser to the Disability Resource Center. For more information refer to the statement on priority registration included at the UMN Crookston Policies Website or contact the office at (218) 281-8587. TDD users may call (218) 281-8565 or use the Minnesota Relay Service at 1-800-657-3529.
